We had some pumpkin plants come up on their own in this summer's garden, in between our squash plants. Not the right time of the summer for pumpkins to be growing, but we left them there to see how well they would grow. A week or so ago we picked the pumpkins and brought them up to the porch. In the morning we found this praying mantis enjoying his breakfast on our newly harvested pumpkin.

Yuck, what is that thing he's eating?
Looked like a beetle, most likely a Junebug. Sounds tasty, right?
Those are really neat pictures. It has almost a human quality to it, in the way it holds its food.
